High Concrete Group Announces New Brand
Proud of Our Legacy, Excited for Our Future
High Concrete Group proudly announces the launch of our new brand. The new brand, or should we say, the revised legacy brand, replaces High Concrete’s previous blue tones to better align with the black, red, and yellow colors that the High Companies brand has been known for since 1931.
In completing this transition, we wanted to reflect on our company’s longstanding history and the many successes we have achieved together. We also wanted to acknowledge the innovation that High Concrete has brought to the precast concrete industry, and the bright prospects this offers us.
By recognizing our past, and embracing our future, our new brand is intended to remind us of the legacy of the High Companies, but done so in a modern application with toned down colors and simplified designs. We therefore summarize our new brand’s theme and sentiment with the tagline “Proud of our legacy, excited for our future”.
Honoring High Concrete’s History
The High Company traces its roots to 1931 in Lancaster, PA, where High Welding Company was founded by Sanford H. High. From our humble start as a Depression-era welding shop, the company expanded into areas of commercial real estate, manufacturing, and construction.
High Concrete’s roots trace back nearly 70 years, when in 1957, Kurtz Brothers Company of Ephrata, PA founded the Kurtz Precast Corporation in Denver, PA, to diversify their existing concrete ready-mix business. In 1977, the High Companies acquired Kurtz Precast, which included a 148-acres production campus, and established the business under the High ownership as High Concrete Structures. At the time of acquisition, Kurtz Precast specialized in structural precast concrete production for parking garages, stadia, and other large commercial facilities. Today, our industry-leading position as the premier producer of precast concrete parking garages in the Mid-Atlantic and North East can be traced to the distinguished reputation and technical foundation that Kurtz Precast built.
Reflecting on Our Industry Innovation
As the company continued to grow and innovate, it rebranded to High Concrete Group to accommodate the newly formed StructureCare and High Concrete Accessories subsidiaries. In doing so, High Concrete was one of the first in the industry to offer clients a full suite of services spanning the lifecycle of parking structures, including production, erection, and maintenance services.
In 2004 we expanded our geographic reach to the Mid-West by acquiring Concrete Technology Inc. The Springboro, OH plant was an industry leader in architectural precast concrete cladding, facades, and exterior envelopes. The talent, market reputation, and accomplishments carried over from the Concrete Technology acquisition enabled our Denver location to transition to a more diversified product line and helped launch our architectural precast concrete business on the East coast.
Embracing High Concrete’s Future
In response to the construction industry’s increased demand for architectural precast concrete, in 2019 High Concrete Group broke ground on a major revitalization of its production facilities at its Denver, Pa. headquarters. The capital investment plan, called Project Osprey, sought to expand architectural production capabilities by moving swapping the physical location of the architectural and structural plants. Project Osprey also included details to expand and improve the mix production capacity and delivery methods of the new architectural plant. The project was successfully completed in 2021, weathering COVID-19 challenges and running concurrent with the production of our largest precast parking structure to date.
With the accomplishment of Project Osprey, High Concrete Group has now aligned itself to be the preeminent producer of architectural and structural precast concrete structures throughout the North East, Mid-Atlantic, and Mid-West.
Bridge to Opportunity
The High story is framed by entrepreneurship and values. When Sanford H. High founded the High Welding Company in 1931, he had a keen focus on innovation and serving his customers — and serving them well. This became the inspiration for The High Philosophy: Building trustworthy relationships and being innovative leaders.
In 2022 the High family transferred ownership of High Industries Inc., High Concrete’s parent company, to the High Foundation. By doing so, profits from the business will return to the foundation and will be managed, grown and distributed back into the community.
Today, the founding principles of the High Philosophy are carried through High Concrete Group and continue to be the guiding force behind our growth as we serve our customers and continue to be innovative leaders.
